And He's Off!

Pete left for his big Colorado elk hunt yesterday afternoon!  That's a nice picture of the mullet he cut for this trip.  He claims he's keeping it until January...we'll see about that, my friends.  Susannah and I will miss him very much over the next 12 days, but we are thankful to have lots to do while he's gone to make the time go by quickly.  I'm also very thankful that Pete's favorite hobby provides for our family--it's a win-win in my book!

If you know me, you know I have a love for literature.  This morning I read a poem that absolutely struck a chord in my heart, so I'm going to write it here for you to read before we get to pictures.  It is so relevant, regardless of where you are in life.

"He Giveth More Grace" by Annie Johnson Flint

He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater;
He sendeth more grace when the labours increase;
To added afflictions he addeth his mercy;
To multiplied trials, his multiplied peace.

When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done;
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father's full giving is only begun.

His love has no limits, his grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of his infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

Ya'll.  What would I do without that sustaining grace?  My efforts will always fail without the power and strength of the grace of God!  Thank you, Jesus.

And now pictures of our most tangible example of God's grace in our lives!

That angel face...I just can't get enough
She wants to be just like her daddy: typing on the computer while watching the Redskins!

Getting the hang of this sippy cup thing

Our favorite place in the house: next to the dishwasher and in front of the fridge

She knows where all the goods are kept now...

 We've got some traveling to do this week and can't wait to see some of our family and friends!

Harrisonburg Fun

We had a fantastic time in Harrisonburg this past week!  Susannah got to visit the local lavender farm, as well as try her first bite of Kline's Dairy Bar ice cream.  She was so excited to be in the Valley that she woke us up at 5:30 every morning raring to go!  Luckily, we're back to our usual 7:00ish wakeup time now that we are home and back in our normal routine.

At White Oak Lavender Farm

Talking about all the little duckies in the pond

"What the heck is that thing?"

Doing a little elk hunt preparation: 62 lbs on the back, 21 lbs on the front, and a mountain trail ahead!

Pop Time

Susannah desperately wanted to try my beer.  That, or the glass was just nice and cold on her gums.
